Is the pool indoors or outdoors?

You can participate in lessons year round.  We have a dome that covers the pool in the winter.  During that time, the pool is kept at 82 degrees and the air is typically around 74 degrees.  Sometime around Memorial Day the dome comes down.  From June to September, we have an outdoor pool.  The water is still kept at 82 degrees.

Who can participate in lessons?

Anyone!  You do not need to be a member.  We offer lessons for all ages and all levels.  With our group lessons, partnership with Crimson Aquatics, masters swim program, and private lesson, you are sure to find a perfect fit!

Do you offer classes for infants?

Yes.  We allow infants in our group classes.  We require an adult to enter the water with all children under 1.  We also offer a “Swim with Me” class which is designed for an adult to participate in the class with the child.  We do not teach infant survival swimming.

How do I sign up for lessons?

Signing up for lessons can easily be done by email or over the phone.  Email aquatics@RaynhamAthleticClub.com to get started.

Do I need to bring anything with me to lessons?

You don’t need much.  A bathing suit and towel are the basics.  If your child is comfortable with goggles or something else, you can bring them with you.  We will encourage children not to use devices, but we want them to feel comfortable and have fun.  Swimmers may be more comfortable with flip flops or something similar walking around the pool area and locker room when they are wet.  We do require swim diapers (disposable or reusable) for swimmers who are not potty trained.

What do I do when I arrive for my lessons?

When you arrive at the club, come into the main entrance. Check in with the front desk and they will direct you back to the pool area.  There may need to be forms to fill out if you haven’t done it already.  Swimmers can get ready in the locker rooms or family changing area.  Once you head out to the pool area, there are chairs and tables for your comfort.  We ask that swimmers wait on the pool deck unti their instructor calls them into the pool.  We ask that anyone not taking a lesson stay out of the pool unless you are assisting the participant of the class. Other children accompanying the swimmer to lessons may sit with an adult on the pool deck or play in our grassy area and playground during the summer with the supervision of an adult.  We ask that an adult stay in the pool area while the child is in the lesson and that everyone leave the pool area when your lesson is over. Use of the pool requires a membership.

Do I need to enter the water with my child during their lesson?

In group lessons, we require an adult to enter the water with all children under 1.  For children between the ages of 1 and 2, we suggest that an adult be ready to enter the water.  Some children are ready to participate in class on their own and some children would benefit from an adult assisting them.  We want lessons to be a positive experience for you and your child.  Adults are welcome to go in the pool with swimmers anytime, but it is not required if they are old enough.  Every child is different, and you know them best.  We want this to be a positive experience for them so do what is best for them and you.

In a private lesson, adults are not required to enter the water with a child, but they can join in.

Do you have lessons in the rain?

We will hold lessons rain or shine even when the dome is off.  The swimmers are wet anyway and the kids actually think it is fun swimming in the rain.  We are required to close the pool for 30 minutes if we hear thunder or lightning whether the dome is on or off.  If you question whether or not lessons are being held, you can always call the club at 508-823-5440.

Can I use the pool outside of my lesson time?

Yes.  Use of our pool requires a membership or the purchase of a guest pass.  We have special offers for our swimmers to come and practice on their own.  Please contact the club for current rates and specials at 508-823-5440 or you can email us at RaynhamAthleticClub@gmail.com
